The New Living Translation Exposed
By Dr. Ken Matto
Many Christians have purchased the New Living
Translation believing that it is very easy to understand but the problem is,
like all the modern versions it is taken from the critical text which is the
counterfeit text that Hort and Westcott used to create their Revised Version of
1881. It was not a revised version
of the King James rather they replaced the proper text with their Roman Catholic
based text made from the Vaticanus manuscript which has no history before 1475
and contains massive corruptions.
Then they used the Sinaiticus which has been proven to be a nineteenth century
counterfeit with sufficient evidence to back that claim.
The New Living Translation (NLT) is published by Tyndale
House publishers as another false Bible to attempt to displace the King James
Bible. Why would “Christian”
publishers publish something that could hurt Christians instead of helping them?
It is all $$$$$$ and that is the reason for these rewrites.
It is a shame that Christians refuse to think and investigate these
versions instead they run right out and buy them placing millions of dollars
into the coffers of the publishers who could not care about their spiritual
growth, only their wallet. These
big sales only fund the production of future counterfeit versions, all more
corrupt than their predecessors. It
is a sad thing that Christians are willing to fund the weakening of
Christianity. Probably the biggest
endorser is Chuck Swindoll who has used it in his commentaries and on his radio
program. He doesn’t push it but the
marketing strategy is there, because of his fame on the radio all he has to do
is use it and the good sheep who listen to him will run right out and buy one.
I wonder what type or remuneration Chuck gets from Tyndale House
Publishers because media ministers don’t do anything for free.
Below are 52 verses from the New Living Translation
which will show its complete agreement with the New World Translation of the
Jehovah’s Witnesses and the Roman Catholic New American Bible.
There are literally hundreds of verses which have been mutilated in the
NLT. If you would like to check
them out and see them for yourself go to:
www.scionofzion.com/kjcomparisons.html
On this page you will have each verse (767 total) more
intently researched for you showing the corruptions which agree with the other
counterfeit versions like NIV, NASV, ESV, etc.
For this brief comparison article, I will only be comparing 3 versions
and you will see how the NLT agrees 100% with the New World Translation of the
Jehovah’s Witnesses and the Roman Catholic New American Bible and how it differs
from the real standard which is the King James Bible which has stood the test of
time for over 400 years.

Genesis 12:18-19
(KJV)
And Pharaoh called Abram, and said, What is this that thou hast
done unto me? why didst thou not tell me that she was thy wife? {19}
Why saidst thou, She is my sister? so I might have
taken her to me to wife: now therefore behold thy wife, take her, and go
thy way.
(NLT) {18} So
Pharaoh summoned Abram and accused him sharply. “What have you done to me?” he
demanded. “Why didn’t you tell me she was your wife?
{19} Why
did you say, ‘She is my sister,’ and allow me to take her as my wife? Now
then, here is your wife. Take her and get out of here!”
(NAB) Then Pharaoh summoned Abram and
said to him: “How could you do this to me! Why did you not tell me she was your
wife? {19} Why did you say, ‘She is my sister,’ so that I took her for my
wife? Now, here is your wife. Take her and leave!”
(NWT) Even the Jehovah’s Witness go
this one right!
This is
one of the more subtle, yet major abominations in the modern versions. In the
KJB we read the single word in verse 19, “might.” This means that Pharaoh did
not yet take Sarah to be one of his wives. The modern versions omit the word
“might” and teach that Pharaoh took Sarah to be his wife which would make Sarah
an adulteress. This would also mean that the plagues which God sent on the house
of Pharaoh would have been fruitless (verse 17). The reason that God sent those
plagues was to prevent Pharaoh from taking her as his wife. According to the
KJB, Pharaoh did not take Sarah as wife and returned her to Abraham who was
rebuked by Pharaoh for lying about Sarah. When one little qualifying word is
omitted, it changes the entire meaning of the passage which also affects the
teachings of other passages and the continuity of the flow of Scripture. All the
modern versions above use the word “took” which means that the action of taking
Sarah as wife had already been completed, as the word “took“ is the past tense
of the word “take.”
Matthew 1:25
(KJB) And knew her not till she had brought forth her
firstborn son: and he called
his name JESUS.
(NLT) But
he did not have sexual relations with her until her son was born. And Joseph
named him Jesus.
(NAB-Roman Catholic) He had no relations with her until she bore a son, and he
named him Jesus.
(NWT-Jehovah’s Witness) But he had no intercourse with her until she gave birth
to a son; and he called his name Jesus.
Matthew 5:44
(KJB) But I
say unto you, Love your enemies,
bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and
pray for them which despitefully use
you, and persecute you;
(NLT)
But I say, love your enemies!
Pray for those who persecute you!
(NAB-Roman Catholic) But I say to you, love your enemies, and pray for those who
persecute you,
(NWT-Jehovah’s Witnesses) However, I say to YOU: Continue to love YOUR enemies
and to pray for those persecuting YOU;

(KJB)
So the last shall be first, and the first last:
for many be called, but few chosen.
(NLT)
“So those who are
last now will be first then, and those who are first will be last.”
(NAB)
Thus the last shall be first and the first shall be last”
(NWT) In this way the last ones
will be first, and the first ones last.”
Mark 6:11
(KJB) And whosoever
shall not receive you, nor hear you, when ye depart thence, shake off the dust
under your feet for a testimony against them.
Verily I say unto you, It shall be
more tolerable for Sodom and Gomorrha in the day of judgment, than for that
city.
(NLT) But if any place refuses to welcome
you or listen to you, shake its dust from your feet as you leave to show that
you have abandoned those people to their fate.”
(NAB)
If any place will not receive you or hear you, shake its dust from your feet in
testimony against them as you leave.
(NWT) And wherever a place will
not receive you nor hear you, on going out from there shake off the dirt that is
beneath your feet for a witness to them"
Mark 7:8
(KJB) For laying aside
the commandment of God, ye hold the tradition of men,
as the washing of pots and cups: and
many other such like things ye do.
(NLT)
For you ignore God’s law and substitute
your own tradition.”
(NAB) You disregard God's
commandments and cling to what is human tradition."
(NWT) Letting go the commandment
of God, YOU hold fast the tradition of men."

continued wondering at the things being spoken about

rebuked them, and said, Ye know not
what manner of spirit ye are of. (56) or the Son of man is not come to destroy

(NLT)
{55} But Jesus turned and
rebuked them. {56} So they went
on to another village.
(NAB)
He turned toward them to only reprimand them {56} Then they set off for another
town
(NWT) But he turned and
rebuked them {56} So they went to a different village
John 5:3-4
(KJB)
In these lay a great multitude of impotent folk, of blind, halt, withered,
waiting for the moving of the water. {4} For an angel went down at a
certain season into the pool, and troubled the water: whosoever then first after
the troubling of the water stepped in was made whole of whatsoever disease he
had.
(NLT) Crowds of sick
people—blind, lame, or paralyzed—lay on the porches. {4} Omitted
(NAB-Roman Catholic) In these lay
a large number of ill, blind, lame, and crippled. {4} Omitted

John 9:4
(KJB)
I must work the works of him
that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.
(NLT) We must quickly carry out the tasks
assigned us by the one who sent us. The night is coming, and then no one can
work.
(NAB) We must do the deeds of
him who sent me while it is day. The night comes on when no one can work.
(NWT) We must work the works of
him that sent me while it is day; the night is coming when no man can work.

(KJB) Then they took
away the stone from the place where
the dead was laid. And Jesus lifted up his eyes, and said, Father, I
thank thee that thou hast heard me.
(NLT)
So they rolled the stone aside. Then
Jesus looked up to heaven and said, “Father, thank you for hearing me.
(NAB)
Then they took away the stone and Jesus looked upward and said: “Father I thank
you for having heard me.
(NWT) Therefore they took the
stone away. Now Jesus raised his eyes heavenward and said: “Father, I thank you
that you have heard me.
Acts 2:30
(KJB) Therefore being a
prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him, that of the fruit
of his loins, according to the flesh,
he would raise up Christ to sit on his throne;
(NLT)
But he was a prophet, and
he knew God had promised with an oath that one of David’s own descendants would
sit on his throne.
(NAB) He was a prophet and knew
that God had sworn to him that one of his descendants would sit upon his throne.
(NWT) Therefore, because he was
a prophet and knew that God had sworn to him with an oath that he would seat one
from the fruitage of his loins upon his throne.
Acts 24:15
(KJB)
And have hope toward God, which they themselves also allow, that there shall be
a resurrection of the dead,
both of the just and unjust.
(NLT) I have the
same hope in God that these men have, that he will raise both the righteous and
the unrighteous.
(NAB)
And I have the same hope in God as these men have that there is to be a
resurrection of the good and the wicked alike.
(NWT) and I have hope toward
God, which hope these [men] themselves also entertain, that there is going to be
a resurrection of both the righteous and the unrighteous.
Romans 8:1
(KJB) There is therefore
now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus,
who walk not after the flesh, but
after the Spirit.
(NLT)
So now there is no
condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus.
(NAB)
There is no condemnation now for those who are in Christ Jesus
(NWT)
Therefore those in union with Christ Jesus have no condemnation
Romans 11:6
(KJB) And if by grace,
then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace.
But if it be of works, then is it no
more grace: otherwise work is no more work.
(NLT)
And since it is through
God’s kindness, then it is not by their good works. For in that case, God’s
grace would not be what it really is—free and undeserved.
(NAB) But if the choice is by
grace, it is not because of their works-otherwise grace would not be grace
(NWT) Now if it is by undeserved
kindness, it is no longer due to works; otherwise, the undeserved kindness no
longer proves to be undeserved kindness.
1 Corinthians 7:39
(KJB) The wife is bound
by the law as long as her
husband liveth; but if her husband be dead, she is at liberty to be married to
whom she will; only in the Lord.
(NLT)
A wife is bound to her husband as long as he lives. If her husband dies, she is
free to marry anyone she wishes, but only if he loves the Lord.
(NAB)
A wife is bound to her husband as long as he lives. If her husband dies she is
free to marry, but on one condition, that it be in the Lord.
(NWT) A wife is bound during all
the time her husband is alive. But if her husband should fall asleep [in death],
she is free to be married to whom she wants, only in [the] Lord.

of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by
Jesus Christ, and hath given
to us the ministry of reconciliation;
(NLT)
And all of this is a gift from
God, who brought us back to himself through Christ. And God has given us this
task of reconciling people to him.
(NAB)
All this has been done by God, who has reconciled us to himself through Christ
and has given us the ministry of reconciliation.
(NWT) But all things are from
God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and give us the ministry of the
reconciliation,
2 Corinthians 11:31
(KJB) The God and Father
of our Lord Jesus Christ,
which is blessed for evermore, knoweth that I lie not.

of eternal praise, knows I am not lying.
(NAB)
The God and Father of the Lord Jesus knows-blessed be he forever-that I do not
lie
(NWT) The God and Father of the
Lord Jesus, even the One who is to be praised forever, knows I am not lying.
Galatians 3:1
(KJB) O foolish
Galatians, who hath bewitched you,
that ye should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ hath
been evidently set forth, crucified among you?
(NLT)
Oh, foolish Galatians! Who has cast an evil
spell on you? For the meaning of Jesus Christ’s death was made as clear to you
as if you had seen a picture of his death on the cross.
(NAB)
You senseless Galatians! Who has cast a spell over you-you before whose eyes
Jesus Christ was displayed to view upon his cross?
(NWT) O senseless Galatians, who
is it that brought you under evil influence, you before whose eyes Jesus Christ
was openly portrayed impaled?
Galatians 4:7
(KJB) Wherefore thou art
no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God
through Christ.
(NLT)
Now you are no longer a slave but God’s own
child. And since you are his child, God has made you his heir.
(NAB)
You are no longer a slave but a son! And the fact that you are a son makes you
an heir, by God’s design.
(NWT) So, then you are no longer
a slave but a son; and if a son, also an heir through God.
Ephesians 3:9
(KJB) And to make all
men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the
world hath been hid in God, who created all things
by Jesus Christ:
(NLT)
I was chosen to explain to everyone this
mysterious plan that God, the Creator of all things, had kept secret from the
beginning.
(NAB) and to enlighten all men
on the mysterious design which for ages was hidden in God, the Creator of all.
(NWT) and should make men see
how the sacred secret is administered which has from the indefinite past been
hidden in God, who created all things.
Ephesians 3:14
(KJB) For this cause I
bow my knees unto the Father of our
Lord Jesus Christ,

pray to the Father,
(NAB)
This is why I kneel before the Father
(NWT) On account of this I bend my knees to the Father,
Ephesians 5:30
(KJB) For we are members
of his body, of his flesh, and of his
bones.
(NLT)
And we are members of his body.
(NAB)
for we are members of his body.
(NWT) because we are members of
his body.
Philippians 3:16
(KJB) Nevertheless,
whereto we have already attained, let
us walk by the same rule, let us mind the same thing.
(NLT)
But we must hold on to the progress we have
already made.
(NAB) It is important that we
continue on our course, no matter what stage we have reached.
(NWT) At any rate, to what
extent we have made progress, let us go on walking orderly in this same routine.
Colossians 1:14
(KJB) In whom we have
redemption through his blood,
even the forgiveness of sins:
(NLT)
who purchased our freedom and forgave our
sins.
(NAB) Through him we have
redemption, the forgiveness of our sins
(NWT) by means of whom we have
our release by ransom, the forgiveness of our sins.
1 Thessalonians 1:1
(KJB) Paul, and
Silvanus, and Timotheus, unto the church of the Thessalonians which is in God
the Father and in the Lord Jesus Christ: Grace be unto you, and peace,
from God our Father, and the Lord

2 Thessalonians 1:8
(KJB) In flaming fire
taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our
Lord Jesus Christ:
(NLT)
in flaming fire, bringing judgment on those who
don’t know God and on those who refuse to obey the Good News of our Lord Jesus.
(NAB) when “with flaming power
he will inflict punishment on those who do not acknowledge God or heed” the good
news of our Lord Jesus
(NWT) in a flaming fire, as he
brings vengeance upon those who do not know God and those who do not obey the
good news about our Lord Jesus.

eternal, immortal, invisible, the only

who never dies; he alone is God. Amen.
(NAB) To
the King of ages, the immortal, the invisible, the only God, be honor and glory
forever and ever! Amen.
(NWT) Now to the King of
eternity, incorruptible, invisible [the] only God, be honor and glory forever
and ever. Amen.
1 Timothy 6:5
(KJB) Perverse
disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that
gain is godliness: from such withdraw
thyself.
(NLT)
These people always cause trouble. Their minds
are corrupt, and they have turned their backs on the truth. To them, a show of
godliness is just a way to become wealthy.
(NAB) in a word, the bickering
of men with twisted minds who have lost all sense of truth. Such men value
religion only as a means of personal gain.
(NWT) violent disputes about
trifles on the part of men corrupted in mind despoiled of the truth, thinking
that godly devotion is a means of gain.
2 Timothy 1:11
(KJB) Whereunto I am
appointed a preacher, and an apostle, and a teacher
of the Gentiles.
(NLT)
And
God chose me to be a preacher, an apostle, and a teacher of this Good News.
(NAB) In the service of this
gospel I have been appointed preacher and apostle and teacher,
(NWT) for which I was appointed
a preacher and apostle and teacher.

Jesus Christ be with thy
spirit. Grace be with you. Amen.
(NLT)
May
the Lord be with your spirit. And may his grace be with all of you.
(NAB) The Lord be with your
spirit. Grace be with you

spirit you show. HIS undeserved kindness [be] with YOU people.

(KJB) To Titus, mine own
son after the common faith: Grace,
mercy, and peace, from God the Father and
the Lord Jesus Christ our
Saviour.
(NLT) I am
writing to Titus, my true son in the faith that we share.
May God the Father and Christ Jesus our Savior give you grace and peace.
(NAB) Paul to
Titus, my own true child in our common faith: May grace and peace from God our
Father, and Christ Jesus our Savior, be with you
(NWT) to Titus, a genuine child
according to a faith shared in common: May there be undeserved kindness and
peace from God [the] Father and Christ Jesus our Savior.
Philemon 6
(KJB) That the
communication of thy faith may become effectual by the acknowledging of every
good thing which is in you in Christ
Jesus.
(NLT)
And I am praying that you will put into action
the generosity that comes from your faith as you understand and experience all
the good things we have in Christ.
(NAB) And my prayer is that your
sharing of the faith with others may enable you to know all the good which is
ours in Christ.
(NWT) in order that the sharing
of your faith may go into action by your acknowledging of every good thing among
us as related to Christ.
Philemon 12
(KJB) Whom I have sent
again: thou therefore receive him,
that is, mine own bowels:
(NLT)
I
am sending him back to you, and with him comes my own heart.
(NAB) It is he I am sending back
to you-and that means I am sending my heart!
(NWT) This very one I am sending
back to you, yes, him, that is, my own tender affections.
Hebrews 1:3
(KJB) Who being the
brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all
things by the word of his power, when
he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the
Majesty on high;
(NLT)
The Son radiates God’s own glory and expresses
the very character of God, and he sustains everything by the mighty power of his
command. When he had cleansed us from our sins, he sat down in the place of
honor at the right hand of the majestic God in heaven.
(NAB) This Son is the reflection
of the Father’s glory, the exact representation of the Father’s being, and he
sustains all things by his powerful word. When he had cleansed us from our sins,
he took his seat at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven,
(NWT) He is the reflection of
[his] glory and the exact representation of his very being, and he sustains all
things by the word of his power; and after he had made a purification for our
sins he sat down on the right hand of the Majesty in lofty places.
Hebrews 10:30
(KJB) For we know him
that hath said, Vengeance belongeth unto me, I will recompense,
saith the Lord. And again,
The Lord shall judge his people.
(NLT)
For
we know the one who said, “I will take revenge.
I
will pay them back.”
He also said, “The Lord will
judge his own people.”
(NAB)
We know who said, “Vengeance is mine; I will repay,” and “The Lord will judge
his people.”
(NWT) For we know him that said:
“Vengeance is mine; I will recompense”; and again: “Jehovah will judge his
people.”
James 5:16
(KJB) Confess your
faults one to another, and
pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a
righteous man availeth much.
(NLT)
Confess your sins to each other and pray for
each other so that you may be healed. The earnest prayer of a righteous person
has great power and produces wonderful results.
(NAB)
Hence, declare your sins to one another, and pray for one another, that you may
find healing. The fervent petition of a holy man is powerful indeed.
(NWT) Therefore openly confess
YOUR sins to one another and pray for one another that YOU may get healed. A
righteous man’s supplication, when it is at work, has much force.
1 Peter 1:22
(KJB) Seeing ye have
purified your souls in obeying the truth
through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye
love one another with a pure heart fervently:
(NLT)
You were cleansed from your sins when you obeyed
the truth, so now you must show sincere love to each other as brothers and
sisters. Love each other deeply with all your heart.
(NAB) By
obedience to the truth you have purified yourselves for a genuine love of your
brothers; therefore, love one another constantly from the heart.
(NWT) Now that YOU have purified
YOUR souls by [YOUR] obedience to the truth with unhypocritical brotherly love
as the result, love one another intensely from the heart.
1 Peter 4:14
(KJB) If ye be
reproached for the name of Christ, happy are ye; for the spirit of glory and of
God resteth upon you: on their part
he is evil spoken of, but on your part he is glorified.
(NLT)
If you are insulted because you bear the name of
Christ, you will be blessed, for the glorious Spirit of God rests upon
you.
(NAB)
Happy are you when you are insulted for the sake of Christ, for then God’s
Spirit in its glory has come to rest on you.
(NWT) If YOU are being
reproached for the name of Christ, YOU are happy, because the [spirit] of glory,
even the spirit of God, is resting upon YOU.
2 Peter 2:17
(KJB) These are wells
without water, clouds that are carried with a tempest; to whom the mist of
darkness is reserved for ever.
(NLT)
These people are as useless as dried-up springs
or as mist blown away by the wind. They are doomed to blackest darkness.
(NAB) These men are waterless
springs, mists whipped by the gale. The darkest gloom has been reserved for
them.
(NWT) These are fountains
without water, and mists driven by a violent storm, and for them the blackness
of darkness has been reserved.
2 Peter 3:9
(KJB) The Lord is not
slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering
to us-ward, not willing that
any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
(NLT)
The Lord isn’t really being slow about his
promise, as some people think. No, he is being patient for your sake. He does
not want anyone to be destroyed, but wants everyone to repent.
(NAB) The Lord does not delay in
keeping his promise-though some consider it “delay.” Rather, he shows your
generous patience, since he wants none to perish but all to come to repentance.
(NWT) Jehovah is not slow
respecting his promise, as some people consider slowness, but he is patient with
YOU because he does not desire any to be destroyed but desires all to attain to
repentance.
1 John 4:3
(KJB) And every spirit
that confesseth not that Jesus Christ
is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of
antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is
it in the world.
(NLT)
But if someone claims to be a prophet and does
not acknowledge the truth about Jesus, that person is not from God. Such a
person has the spirit of the Antichrist, which you heard is coming into the
world and indeed is already here.
(NAB)
while every spirit that fails to acknowledge him does not belong to God. Such is
the spirit of the antichrist which, as you have heard, is to come; in fact, it
is in the world already.
(NWT) but every inspired
expression that does not confess Jesus does not originate with God. Furthermore,
this is the antichrist’s [inspired expression] which YOU have heard was coming,
and now it is already in the world.
1 John 5:13
(KJB) These things have
I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know
that ye have eternal life, and that
ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.
(NLT)
I
have written this to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you
may know you have eternal life.
(NAB) I have written this to you
to make you realize that you possess eternal life-you who believe in the name of
the Son of God.
(NWT) I write you these things
that you may know that you have life everlasting, you who put your faith in the
name of the Son of God
2 John 9
(KJB) Whosoever
transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that
abideth in the doctrine of Christ,
he hath both the Father and the Son.
(NLT)

Son.

As we have plainly seen, the New Living Translation is as corrupt as the Jehovah’s Witness Bible and the Roman Catholic Bible or let’s put it another way, it is as accurate as both of those. The New Living Translation is another satanic counterfeit and Christians will never come to any true understanding in Scripture by using this counterfeit nor will they grow in their spiritual walk.
