Daniel 9:26 and the Apostasy of Dan Wallace!
Here is why
modern versions are dangerous and should be avoided.
Dan Wallace is a professor of New Testament Studies at Dallas Theological
Seminary. Notice what he stated in
the footnotes concerning the vicarious death of Christ.
He states “it cannot be defended.”
Basically, he is saying that the death of Christ for His elect cannot be
defended according to the Scriptures.
The whole Bible is about the redemption of man through Christ.
To make the claim that vicarious atonement cannot be defended is blatant
heresy and if that is the caliber of teachers at Dallas Theological Seminary,
then they should be avoided totally.
How can anyone trust the teachings coming out of there?
He obviously does not know the meaning of “vicarious!”
Daniel 9:26 New English Translation (NET
Bible)
26 Now
after the sixty-two weeks,
an anointed one will be cut off and have nothing.[a]
As for the city and the sanctuary,
the people of the coming prince will destroy them.
But his end will come speedily like a flood.
Until the end of the war that has been decreed
there will be destruction.
Footnotes:
Daniel 9:26 The expression have nothing is
difficult. Presumably it refers to an absence of support or assistance for the
anointed one at the time of his “cutting off.” The KJV rendering “but not for
himself,” apparently suggesting a vicarious death, cannot be defended.
