This song was written and sung by yours truly to the congregation of Zarephath Community Chapel on Bible Sunday 11/20/94 in the PM service in conjunction with my message entitled "The Trustworthiness of Scripture."

First Verse

There are some folks today,

Who read the word of God,

And say that all the verses,

Are really kind of odd

 

Because they have been schooled,

They think they can’t be fooled,

With Satan’s exegesis,

By which they are now ruled

 

Long Ago, Long Ago,

They revered the Word long ago,

But since they’ve gone to school,

They’re a happy satanic tool,

When they preach their sermons,

They’re an unbelieving fool

 

Second Verse

There are some folks today,

Who say the Word is wrong,

Within their natural minds,

They think their case is strong

 

But against their type of leaven,

I offer Psalm 12:6 and 7,

And know that these false preachers,

May not make it to heaven

 

Long ago, Long Ago,

They never accused the Word long ago,

But since those blessed days,

Theology has changed their ways,

But all their worldly wisdom,

Will go up in a blaze

 

Third Verse

There are some folks today,

Who seek the Ph.D.,

Because it cries so loudly,

Oh stop and look at me

 

I have become so smart,

Of words I’ll make a flood,

But prideful theologians,

Are not under the blood

 

Long Ago, Long Ago,

They used to teach the Bible long ago,

But since those blessed days,

Their philosophies are a maze,

And now their congregations,

Leave church in a daze
